Slocum, Rhode Island is a small village located in the town of North Kingstown. It is located in the south-central part of the state. The very rural territory is characterized by many open fields and quintessential New England farms.

The University of Rhode Island is just ten minutes by car from Slocum. This makes for an easy commute for many students. The university offers degrees in 79 undergraduate and 49 graduate areas of study. It enrolls around 16,000 students.
